Domain Park is an original acrylic on canvas (610 × 460 mm) by New Zealand artist Max Thomson. Thomson’s work is shaped by his formative years in provincial New Zealand, where the land and its rhythms left an indelible mark on his creative vision. The natural landscape remains his constant muse, evoked here in a work of layered colour and quiet depth.
Born in Wanganui in 1945, Thomson has a long family connection to the Whanganui River and the West Coast. Moving to Auckland in the early 1960s, he has since exhibited widely across group shows and mounted six solo exhibitions, each returning to the interplay between memory, place, and the land.
