Oeuvres Sensibles

For the textile-lovers, the slow-arts preservers, and those who adore bringing a table to life...

French artist Sarah Espeute appreciates the sensitivities found in decorative elements. For her project Oeuvres Sensibles, she has sourced antique linens and cottons from private collections from all over France.

Between 50 and 100 years old each textile piece is brimming with family history. Once cleaned and resized, the table cloths are then hand embroidered by independent artists in Marseille. It is a small, local and caring production line...

With black cotton thread, Table du Potager (a full sized tablecloth) hosts a poetic embroidered story: four plates, one cabbage, one loaf of bread, one butterfly, one bottle of wine and one snail. Chemin de Potager (a table runner) features one fresh garlic, one butternut squash, one turnip, one knife and two pears.
Table Cloth — Table du Potager, $1499

A romantic scene for a memorable shared meal, Oeuvres Sensibles is for the textile-lovers, the slow-arts preservers, and those who adore bringing a table to life.
