Le Cirque is a table lamp built entirely by hand in Pascale Palun's Avignon studio - a miniature circus tent constructed from hand-twisted wire and raw fabric. The wire structure is formed into scrolled feet, a rippled valance, and a spire topped with a small flag; the word Circus is spelled out in wire across the facade. Inside, cut metal figures - acrobats, animals, performers - are fixed to the structure, and it is these that cast the lamp's shadows across the surrounding walls when lit. A star-pierced metal disc sits at the canopy, adding its own pattern of light. The shadows are part of the work.
