Rei is Monastery's answer to a retinol that doesn't punish the skin for using it. Beta-glucan, drawn from fungi, works alongside the retinol to hold moisture and protect the skin barrier, so brightening and fine-line reduction happen without the usual dryness or irritation.
Reishi, the mushroom long associated with longevity, lends the formula its name and its calm. Gotu kola, green tea, and dandelion extract round out a blend built to work with sensitive skin rather than against it.
Suitable for all skin types. Retinol should be avoided during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or when trying to conceive.

Athena Hewett spent twenty years as a master esthetician before she founded Monastery, frustrated by how often the products meant to help her clients' skin were doing the opposite.
