Summer Reading List
Text recommendations from our Tessuti friends and family...

To take advantage of this slower time of year, we've asked our nearest and dearest for their reading recommendations. Something nourishing to curl up with on a quiet evening or take to the beach after a solo swim...
From novels, compilations, prose, children's books and more, indulge in the divine escape of greatly produced literature.
Olivia Smith of Nodi Rugs
My Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion. So personal, raw and beautiful.
On the Necessity of Gardening: An ABC of Art, Botany & Cultivation. One of the most beautiful books that I've read all year. Informative, emotional, simple and inspiring. Its storytelling, imagery, paper stock, use of colour and photography is totally unique.
Lillie Toogood of Good & Co
One of my favourite books is STASILAND by Anna Funder. My husband is from East Germany and this book is a really fascinating and important insight into many different scenarios and points of view from life behind the Berlin wall and the Iron Curtain. A really great read.
Neada Deters of Lesse
The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison
One of the greatest writers of all time, Morrison's work is an essential read for all. This incredibly poignant novel is heartbreaking in its exploration of identity, self and paradigms of beauty.

Missoni Biarritz Cushion, 50x50, $837

Rachel Carley, Designer
Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life by Anne Lamott.
This is an exquisite book for anyone interested in becoming a better writer.
Ophelia Mikkelson, Artist
On Earth We Are Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong.
An epistolary novel, written in the form of a letter from a Vietnamese American son to his mother who can not read or write. This book is important, tender and devastatingly beautiful.
The Wonderful Things You Will Be by Emily Winfield.
I now read a lot of children's books and this is a favourite for both me and my baby.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Annie Barrows and Mary Ann Shaffer.
I love books that are written in letters. This one is romantic and easy. A book of friendship and love.
Tender by Nigel Slater.
I love reading cookbooks and Nigel has the most beautiful way with words (and a great Instagram FYI).
Fran Miller of F.Miller Skincare
My recent reads have consisted mainly of cookbooks! A favourite I will continue to come back to, both for her recipes and beautiful stories, is Fanny Singer's Always Home.
Jess Hannah of J.Hannah
I often recommend Company Of One to fellow business owners, it's like the antithesis of the startup growth mentality and has really informed how I think about business.
Also, a big fan of Non Violent Communication, would benefit anyone and everyone - great read for couples.
Roman Szymanik, Tessuti store manager
The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery.
If The Spirit Moves You by Justine Picardie.
The Land Where Lemons Grow: The Story of Italy & It’s Citrus Fruit by Helena Atlee.
The Wisdom of Tea by Noriko Morishita.

La Lampe Frenchin by DCW Editions Paris, $2785
