Aroha Scarf

DESCRIPTION

The Walker & Bing Fez collection is an exploration of the cultural impact of their ancestry and heritage and those connections with our lives today. The mark making idea was a natural journey through the stories of the symbol and design motifs across their roots from Māori to Moroccan Jews. They found a wealth of inspiration and parallels between both cultures and worked on a contemporary representation of what they found most authentic for them at present.

The Fez collection brings together elements of weaving as a traditional craft as well as the joint tapestry of their cultural differences and similarities. These artworks encompass art, religion and mythology as they continue exploring the bonds of cultural unity and balance.

Aroha, black and white.

Dimensions: 90cm x 90cm

Hand rolled and sewn Silk Crepe De Chine
