The Karl Vase - Småland by Akua Objects is fan-shaped in a rich teal glass, held between two milky white, wing-like handles that curve up from a warm amber-yellow knopped stem and soft peach foot. The silhouette feels at home in the Art Deco period, reimagined here as something contemporary.
Each vase passes through the hands of four glassmakers before it's complete, mouth blown and shaped in Bohemia. No two are quite alike, every piece carries its own swirl within the glass, a trace of the hands that made it.
Substantial in the hand and striking with or without flowers, Karl holds its own on a windowsill, a table, or as a centrepiece on its own.
