Teeny Ted is one of Donna Wilson's Wee Ones - a small bear worked in flecked brown, with a paler muzzle and belly marked with fine hand-stitched lines, and a mustard yellow scarf knotted at his neck. He comes with his own small passport. He's fond of grated cheese, though busy crowds aren't really his scene.
Each Wee One is machine-knitted in organic cotton yarn, then assembled and hand-embroidered by makers in India, so no two ever carry quite the same expression.
Height: 22 cm, Width: 17 cm
Materials: outer 100% organic cotton, inner 80% cotton and 20% recycled polyester stuffing.
ABOUT the MAKER
Donna Wilson
Donna Wilson founded her studio in London in 2003, after the hand-knitted creatures she made for her degree show at the Royal College of Art sold out entirely. She grew up on her parents' farm in the northeast of Scotland, and that landscape has stayed close to her work ever since — colour used without caution, pattern drawn from nature, and a dry sense of humour running through even her smallest pieces. Her team of makers knit, sew, and finish each design by hand, working to keep traditional textile skills alive rather than let them fade. At Tessuti, we carry Donna Wilson's Wee Ones — a small cast of knitted characters, each with their own face, their own outfit, and their own small passport recording a like and a dislike. Each is machine-knitted in organic cotton yarn and finished entirely by hand, with facial features individually embroidered by makers in India — no two are ever quite identical. They are built to be picked up, carried, and lived with — not kept for best.
