Across the open lacework ground of this wide linen scarf, crocheted circles are scattered in varying sizes — rust, ochre, warm brown, blush, sage, slate, and mustard — some no larger than a coin, others broader and more dimensional, their placement following no grid or pattern other than instinct. The effect is of something mapped rather than designed: a cosmology worked out in thread against pale, airy linen.
Crocheted and embroidered entirely by hand in Madagascar by the artisans Sophie Digard has long collaborated with, every circle is worked individually in concentric rounds — its colour, scale, and texture distinct from its neighbours. The linen ground is open and light, the scarf falling softly despite its generous width.
