A row of large dimensional daisies grows across the face of this raffia tote — each flower a different combination of spotted fabric petals, raffia centres, crochet edging, and embroidered detail, the construction varying from bloom to bloom in a way that rewards close attention. Dark chocolate, olive, mustard, dusty blue, and off-white against a warm speckled raffia ground threaded with blush and terracotta. No two flowers are made the same way; no two are identical.
The ground is crocheted from a blend of raffia and linen by the women artisans Sophie Digard has collaborated with for years in Madagascar, each daisy then built up individually from multiple materials and techniques — a level of craft that is only fully visible when the bag is held in the hand.
