The Toothbrush Holder by New Zealand ceramic artist Luca transforms an everyday bathroom essential into a small work of art. Thoughtfully shaped and finished by hand, the piece reflects Luca’s distinctive illustrated style — delicate, playful, and expressive.
Luca began working with clay during the Covid-19 lockdowns at just seventeen, discovering a passion for ceramics while experimenting in a small studio space set up in the corner of her family garage. Inspired by the intricate storytelling found in children’s picture books, her work combines sculpting, drawing, and painting to create pieces that feel both nostalgic and full of character.
Each toothbrush holder is carefully formed and hand-finished before being illustrated and painted by Luca herself. The subtle detailing and gentle irregularities of the handmade process ensure that no two pieces are exactly alike.
Both functional and charming, this ceramic holder brings a thoughtful, artisanal touch to the bathroom — a small reminder of the beauty found in everyday objects.
