Across the face of this large square tote, a scatter of wildflowers grows in the unhurried way of an unmown field — some embroidered flat into the raffia ground, others appliquéd in wool and linen with enough dimension to cast their own shadow. Ochre, blush, dusty rose, warm white, and amber against a speckled neutral ground.
The mix of raffia, linen, and wool gives the piece an unusual depth of texture — each flower worked by hand in Madagascar by the artisans Sophie Digard has collaborated with for years, the motifs built from multiple threads and techniques so that no two sit the same way on the surface.
A flat, structured silhouette with short handles — generous enough to carry everything, considered enough to carry it well.
