A Tree in Amsterdam

$807 USD
(Last One)

A Tree in Amsterdam is an original acrylic on canvas by New Zealand artist Max Thomson — a quietly expressive work that captures the shifting interplay of form, light, and atmosphere within an urban landscape.

Loose, gestural brushstrokes define the tree’s branching structure, while layered greens and ochres suggest foliage moving gently through light. Set against a subdued horizon, the composition balances movement and stillness, evoking a sense of observation filtered through memory. The scene feels both grounded and fleeting — a moment distilled rather than precisely recorded.

Intimate in scale yet rich in texture, the painting reflects Thomson’s enduring sensitivity to landscape, where emotion and impression guide the image more than strict representation.
