Baladi Hand Blown Glass Light - Size 1
The Baladi Hand Blown Glass Light is an illuminated sculpture — a dense cluster of small, mouth-blown glass drops that glow with warm, diffused light. Each drop is formed individually by hand in Damascus using traditional furnaces, without moulds, so no two pieces are alike. The cluster is assembled by hand in France onto a metal structure, and the result sits low and heavy on a surface, glowing outward from its centre like something organic and alive.
The form has a history. In 1950s Damascus, a glassblower began assembling these clusters as decorative objects — hung outdoors in courtyards and on terraces, catching light without electricity. The idea to introduce a bulb came later, transforming the cluster into what it is now: an object that works both as sculpture and as light.
