A lacquer box that honours one of Japan's oldest craft traditions. Urushi lacquer — derived from the sap of the urushi tree — has been used in Japanese object-making for thousands of years. This box is finished in a deep tamari hue with subtle red accents, its matte surface carrying the quiet, sculptural presence of something made entirely by hand.
Each box bears the gentle variations that come from the living nature of the lacquer process — no two pieces identical. Designed to hold incense, small objects, or simply to rest as a considered presence within a room.
An object created to be kept, used, and appreciated over time.
Dimensions — 7.5 x 18 cm
ABOUT the MAKER
À LA
A study in scent, ritual, and restraint — the À LA collection is an ode to timeless Japanese craftsmanship. Each piece, from hand-rolled incense to delicately perfumed pot pourri and porcelain vessels, is created with reverence for tradition and the quiet art of daily ritual. Blending natural materials, ancestral techniques, and contemporary design, À LA evokes warmth, serenity, and intention — transforming the act of scenting a space into a moment of calm and contemplation.
