The Setsuko Fruit Stand by Astier de Villatte is a sculptural centrepiece — expressive, elevated, and richly detailed with motifs drawn from the natural world.
Created in collaboration with artist Setsuko Klossowska de Rola, the generously scaled bowl is adorned with softly rendered fruit — lemons, pomegranates, and pears — encircling its form, while the pedestal is detailed with gently veined leaves. These organic elements lend the piece a sense of narrative and quiet abundance, echoing classical still life compositions.
Finished in Astier de Villatte’s signature milky white glaze, the surface reveals subtle variations and glimpses of warm brown clay beneath — a natural result of the artisanal process. Each piece is unique, carrying the mark of the hand that shaped it.
Both functional and decorative, the Setsuko Fruit Stand transforms everyday fruit into a considered display — or stands alone as a sculptural object rich in character and symbolism.
