The Valentin Cup takes the shape of a plain white cylinder, its rim finished in gold, but its handle breaks from convention entirely: a gold ring, sized to slip a finger through, set with a pearl-edged red heart pierced by an arrow.
Part of the Serena Collection, a collaboration between Astier de Villatte and sculptor Serena Carone, in which rings of all kinds stand in for the traditional handle across a range of cups, alongside jewellery and treasure boxes and hand-shaped incense burners.
The ring handle is designed to be worn on the finger; hold the cup itself when drinking.
