The Hope Bunny in Sherbet is built up in layers — deep crimson silk velvet as the base, then floral motifs in satin stitch, scrolling ribbon work along the borders and ears, and a moss-textured chenille in olive green that runs across the back and feet. Each technique is distinct; together they read as a single, considered surface. This is what makes Anke Drechsel's creatures genuinely difficult to put down — there is always another detail to find.
Designed in Germany and made by hand in India, each Hope Bunny is embroidered on the frame, piece by piece. The fabric is dyed to Drechsel's own colour specifications before a stitch is placed, which means the Sherbet colourway — that particular combination of crimson, blush pink and olive — exists nowhere else.
