A tall, slightly tilted column rising from an irregular base — the Nautilus Vase Gold Waxed reads as something retrieved rather than made. The exterior is densely encrusted with underwater and cosmic forms: sea-life, cellular clusters, spiralling motifs pressed into the clay and sealed with a warm gold wax that brings the surface into relief. The interior is white-glazed. The whole form leans with the kind of confidence that makes it impossible to ignore in a room.
Made in collaboration with Paris-based artist and sculptor Eudes Menichetti, whose surreal, fluid aesthetic shaped every surface of the piece. The gold wax finish is applied over unglazed black terracotta, allowing the raw texture and depth of the clay to remain visible beneath.
