The Octave Box takes its faceted, panelled body and domed lid from Astier de Villatte's ongoing interest in folk forms and found objects. A turned knob finial tops the lid, and the white enamel glaze breaks at the edges to reveal the clay beneath — proof of the hand in its making.
At the table it holds sugar alongside its milk jug companion; on a desk, the lid comes off and it takes pencils or brushes instead.
