The Pencil Dish takes an elongated oval form, its raised border finely detailed with a repeating leaf-and-bead pattern. At its centre, John Derian's illustration of two crossed pencils sits like a small still life, rendered in warm terracotta and black against the white ground.
Created in collaboration between Astier de Villatte and New York designer John Derian, the illustration is applied as a fired decal, archival imagery selected by John Derian and fused permanently into the glaze. Equally suited to holding pencils and pens or sitting empty as a desk tray.
