ABOUT the MAKER
Max Thomson
Max Thomson, born in Whanganui in 1945, is a New Zealand artist whose work is deeply rooted in the land that shaped him. With enduring ties to the Whanganui River and the West Coast, Max draws continuous inspiration from the natural landscapes of Aotearoa. His formative years spent in provincial New Zealand are reflected in the quiet strength and contemplative beauty of his work. Max has participated in numerous group exhibitions and held five solo shows, developing a distinctive visual language that honours the shifting tones and moods of nature. At Tessuti, we’re proud to share a considered selection of his art—pieces that speak to place, memory, and the enduring pull of the land.
