Yakushima Incense

Yakushima — a small island off the southern coast of Japan, home to one of the world's great primeval forests. Thousand-year-old yakusugi cedar trees rise through dense vegetation covered in rare mosses and wild azaleas, their enormous trunks rooted in a landscape that feels wholly unchanged. Limpid waterfalls, deep shade, and the marvelous, delicate earthiness of ancient woodland in perpetual mist.

In a room, it reads as deeply grounding and quietly elemental — cool and resinous without heaviness. Suited to an evening, a moment of stillness, or anywhere that benefits from something ancient and unhurried in the air.

Yakusugi cedar forms the heart of the composition — ancient, resinous, and slow to reveal itself. A moss accord adds a cool, damp earthiness beneath, while the forest floor character of the wood deepens over time into something quietly primordial.
