The Grace Collection
Grace Coddington, former creative director at-large of American Vogue magazine, has illustrated a series of teacups, teapots and saucers for Astier de Villatte. Having produced some of fashion's most memorable imagery, Grace's creative spirit is realised in her illustrative work imbued with humour and charm: mischievous cats drink tea, read the newspaper and engage in courtship, all in the company of friendly little mice.

From the outset, the goal was not to produce a simple capsule collection but to embark on a long-term artistic project. Indeed, this collaboration between Parisien house Astier de Villatte and Japanese clothing label Sacai, which began in 2017, aims to create one unique piece every year.
Each piece is the product of a rich creative exchange, a portrait of the creative mind, radical yet subtle, between Sacai's founder and creative director Chitose Abe and Astier de Villatte’s co-founders, Benoît Astier de Villatte and Ivan Pericoli...
The project is not just about aesthetics; it is also a tribute to artisanal techniques. One of the main inspirations behind the collection is the kintsugi technique, a Japanese art of repairing objects with gold, highlighting imperfections. The Patchwork Platter borrows this aesthetic with golden joints uniting the different parts of the plate, echoing artistic restoration work.
The idea of extending the collaboration over several decades also highlights the importance of time and patience in the creative process. “This project was never destined to be a one-off. We always wanted to do the opposite. A collection that takes a long time to finish.” Each year, a new piece is added, enriching a dialogue that transcends the boundaries of time and disciplines.

The Delft Collection, in collaboration with John Derian.
Inspired by Delft pottery, produced since the 12th century by Dutch manufacturers, includes a collection of plates in varying sizes, From the smallest to the most generous in size, each plate reproduces all the delicacy of Delft: the painted designs and exquisite enamelling of the original models, and, in some cases, the dynamic, vivid colours and lively brushstrokes. The Delft Collection is available in a range of themes, including country scenes, fruit and vegetable motifs, and chinoiserie.
