La Belle Endormie evokes the sensual pleasure of an afternoon nap through the hottest hours of a summer day, an invitation for anyone in the house to doze on cool sheets, lulled by wind through olive leaves. Hand-embroidered in black cotton thread, the cover traces the sleeping beauty herself, her cat curled beside her, and her open book.

Sarah Espuete - Oeuvres Sensibles
Oeuvres Sensibles is the textile project of French artist and designer Sarah Espeute. Each creation is treated as a "sensitive work," an œuvre sensible. Depending on the design, her individual pieces are either completely hand-embroidered by independent artisans in Marseille or Cornely machine-embroidered in Marseille, using a hand-guided technique dating to the 19th century. The textiles are made from a mix of vintage French linen and cotton sheets, sourced from private homes across France and ranging from 50 to 100 years old, and carefully sourced new French fabrics. Each carries its own story, woven into the embroidered piece. At Tessuti, we offer these nostalgic pieces: each a unique blend of memory, material, and artistry.
