The Big Peony is a hand-painted copper flower sculpture that captures the full, layered beauty of this classic bloom in generous scale. Each petal is individually shaped and painted by hand in the Milan atelier of Elisabetta and Carolina Sonzini, where traditional craftsmanship is brought to life through a refined botanical lens.
Created using tôle peinte, an 18th-century French technique of painting on metal, the piece reveals depth and softness through its hand-applied finish. The voluminous form of the peony is expressed with a sense of movement and balance, offering both presence and delicacy.
Mounted on a simple black wooden base, the Big Peony is designed as a statement object — bringing structure and warmth to a console, mantel, or interior setting. A lasting bloom, it reflects a considered approach to craftsmanship and form.
