Sarah Espeute is a French artist-designer who treats decorative elements as sensitive pieces, œuvres sensibles.

In October 2024, Sarah conceived the exhibition "A Well Dressed Apartment," dressing a gallery-apartment on Rue Louise-Émilie in Paris with a collection of bespoke garment curtains, a fusion of wardrobe and furniture bringing oversized, surrealist elements into the room. La Chemise Damier reinvents the curtain as a piece of textile art, built as an oversized shirt in cotton and hemp, patched with indigo and linen diamonds that shift with the light.

Sarah Espuete - Oeuvres Sensibles

Oeuvres Sensibles is the textile project of French artist and designer Sarah Espeute. Each creation is treated as a "sensitive work," an œuvre sensible. Depending on the design, her individual pieces are either completely hand-embroidered by independent artisans in Marseille or Cornely machine-embroidered in Marseille, using a hand-guided technique dating to the 19th century. The textiles are made from a mix of vintage French linen and cotton sheets, sourced from private homes across France and ranging from 50 to 100 years old, and carefully sourced new French fabrics. Each carries its own story, woven into the embroidered piece. At Tessuti, we offer these nostalgic pieces: each a unique blend of memory, material, and artistry.
