The Dotty Frog in Sorbet Pink is the most tonal of the Dotty Frog range — deep rose chenille dots raised against blush-pink silk velvet, the contrast so close that the eye reads texture before it reads pattern. Run a hand across the surface and the dots are distinctly there, each one looped and dense. It is a more tactile object than it first appears, and a more considered one.
Designed in Germany and made by hand in India, each Dotty Frog is embroidered on the frame, piece by piece, with fabric dyed to Drechsel's own colour specifications. The Sorbet Pink colourway — all within the same register of warm rose — is among the most quietly distinctive pieces in the collection.
