The Jill Cushion in Shaded Light Rouge is defined as much by its velvet as its embroidery. The silk ground moves from bright fuchsia-pink to deep olive-brown, the shading gradual and uneven in the way of something dyed by hand. Across this, a continuous pattern of oval leaves on trailing stems — each leaf filled with fine vein embroidery — is worked in cream thread, the repeat covering the full face of the cushion in an even, flowing arrangement. The effect is rich and quietly complex — the embroidery consistent, the ground beneath it always changing.
Designed in Germany and made by hand in India, each Jill Cushion is embroidered on the frame, piece by piece, with fabric dyed to Drechsel's own colour specifications.
