The Megan Frog in Emerald is covered in flowers — open hibiscus blooms in warm rose-pink and coral, scattered across a deep emerald green silk velvet and continuing down each leg to the feet. The petals are worked in satin stitch with fine yellow centres, the leaves small and pale between them, the overall effect generous and botanical. The frog sits in a natural resting pose, its weight settled, its expression impassive — a garden creature rendered in the language of embroidery.
Designed in Germany and made by hand in India, each Megan Frog is embroidered on the frame, piece by piece, with fabric dyed to Drechsel's own colour specifications. The Emerald colourway — that particular pairing of deep green velvet and warm floral embroidery — has the specificity of something observed rather than invented.
