The Kukka Elephant in Charcoal is worked across every surface — trunk, ears, legs, body — with hydrangea-like flower clusters in soft periwinkle blue, each petal individually stitched. Between them, large fern and leaf sprays in olive-gold and warm brown fill the ground. Against deep charcoal silk velvet, the embroidery has a luminosity that photographs suggest but only the object itself confirms.
Designed in Germany and made by hand in India, each Kukka Elephant is embroidered on the frame, piece by piece, with fabric dyed to Drechsel's own colour specifications. At 23 × 29 cm, it has a presence in a room — the kind of object that draws people across to look more closely.
