The Miranda Octopus in Shaded Rose is hand embroidered in silk velvet, the embroidery running continuously from the body out along each of the eight arms. The motif combines gold metallic scrollwork with amber-gold daisy blooms with deep teal centres, small pale blue four-petal cross flowers, and curling vine tendrils — the pattern dense across the body and travelling to the tips of each tentacle. The ground is a shaded rose silk velvet, moving between warm blush-pink and deeper coral, the velvet visible between the embroidered motifs and shifting in tone across the whole piece.
Designed in Germany and made by hand in India, each Miranda Octopus is embroidered on the frame, piece by piece, with fabric dyed to Drechsel's own colour specifications.
