The Peony Turtle Small in Shaded Lake carries the same making as its larger companion — individually cut velvet petals in amber-gold, slate blue, sage and soft grey, each applied by hand and finished with a small gold bead at the centre. At this scale the petals are more prominent, each one more distinct, the overall surface denser and more richly textured. The shaded Lake velvet of the body, feet and legs reads as cool teal-grey, close in feeling to weathered stone.
Designed in Germany and made by hand in India, each Peony Turtle is worked to Drechsel's own specifications, piece by piece. The two sizes sit well together — the difference in scale shifts the character of the piece without changing what makes it.
