The Riva Cushion in Rose Bisque covers its entire face in a single repeated motif — a small five-petalled flower worked in warm cream satin stitch, packed closely across a shaded rose bisque silk velvet ground. The flowers are even in form and consistent in spacing, the effect allover and quietly rhythmic. The velvet beneath shifts between dusty coral and deeper rose-red, giving the cream embroidery a ground that is never entirely flat. Up close the stitch is clear and precise; from a distance the surface reads as a soft, textured field of cream on rose.
Designed in Germany and made by hand in India, each Riva Cushion is embroidered on the frame, piece by piece, with fabric dyed to Drechsel's own colour specifications.
