A crushed nightshade silk velvet — very deep, almost black, with just enough blue-purple in its depth to keep it from reading as neutral — finished on all four sides with a dusty plum fringe. The fringe is the warmest thing about this cushion, a faded rose-purple that draws out the colour buried in the velvet. The pile shifts slightly in the light, the surface never quite settling to a single tone.
Designed in Germany and made by hand in India, with fabric dyed to Anke Drechsel's own colour specifications.
