The Weaving Dots Giraffe in Shaded Yellow has large circular discs of embroidery covering the body from nose to tail. Each disc is filled with horizontal bands of weave-pattern stitch in dusky rose-pink and pale gold, the effect closer to a woven textile than embroidery. The shaded amber-ochre velvet beneath shifts in tone across the surface, which means the circles read differently depending on where you look.
Designed in Germany and made by hand in India, each Weaving Dots Giraffe is embroidered on the frame, piece by piece, with fabric dyed to Drechsel's own colour specifications. The mane is warm gold-brown fringing running the full length of the neck; the tail ends in a small gold tassel. At 34 cm tall, it stands with the same quiet authority as the other giraffes in the collection — but reads as entirely its own.
