OUR PHILOSOPHY

We believe home to be a place that mirrors one’s values, reminds us of where we’ve been and replenishes us for our days ahead. Home is a space for our family, friends and everything in between. Tessuti assists in building this sanctuary one piece at a time. Our selection of homewares, furnishings and gifts, sourced both locally and abroad from makers we respect and admire, are each chosen because they enrich our lives with a unique quality. Our store houses objects that we love, that we use in our own homes, and that we believe you, too, will enjoy. Tessuti, essentially, is our house. And like good friends, we’re here to share.

General Sleep

Introducing the Winona collection by General Sleep. Blurring the lines between sleepwear and everyday attire the inspiration of this collection was sparked by a 1994 photo of Winona Ryder in her bedroom at her apartment in New York City. The newest General Sleep style, appropriately named Winona, is inspired by the relaxed, generously oversized silhouettes of 90's mens pyjamas, allowing for optimal comfort and everyday wear.

FEATURED MAKER

Max Thomson

Exhibition 'Paintings from the Studio' opening at Tessuti Saturday 27th March.

Max Thomson was born in Wanganui in 1945, and has a long family connection with the Wanganui river and the West Coast. He moved with his family to Auckland in the early 1960s.
From an early age Max showed a great interest in the arts, particularly  in music, painting and drawing.
As it happened, for thirty five years Max worked as a professional photographer specialising and excelling in the fields of fashion and advertising. For Max though, his longtime interest in painting and drawing never faded and he now paints full time.
Max has exhibited his work in many group exhibitions and has had five solo shows. His formative years spent in provincial New Zealand have had a profound effect on his choice of subject matter. This is evidenced in his constant return to the natural landscape for inspiration.
