This garment has been made using vintage French linen/cotton (approximately 50-70 years old, but in perfect condition). Each item is cut, sewn, and finished personally by Oliver in Paris. Each garment is accompanied by a cotton garment bag for storage.
This piece is a take on the classic French Chore Jacket, a melange of different years of the classic garment. However it is cut wide under the arm giving a looser fit than you would usually find on such a jacket. The patch pockets are all shaped for better use and to match up with the seams and natural lines of the jacket. All buttons are french vintage and all backing buttons are antique shell, these are hand shanked in french silk thread.
The buttonholes are also sewn by hand with slightly thicker French soie perlée. The collar has also been closed by hand giving a softer finish to the neckline. All reinforcement is done with handwoven cotton, no fusing or glue products are used in the piece, offering a more gracious way for the garment to age.
The embroidery is designed directly on the garment and each one is hand drawn without a template. This means each embroidery is one of a kind. The embroideries take several hours to realises using multiple different threads.
