This garment has been made using vintage French linen/cotton (approximately 50-70 years old, but in perfect condition). Each item is cut, sewn, and finished personally by Oliver in Paris. Each garment is accompanied by a cotton garment bag for storage.
The Long Jacket has a more shaped figure, cutting in slightly through the waist. The shoulder is cut slightly wide for a small drop off. The Jacket lining is Japanese cotton which softens beautifully with age and really benefits from wear. The lining has been hand sewn at the 'jours' detail at hem and inside the pocket opening. The visible herringbone stitch of the pocket is to draw attention to the handwork as it is not as noticeable at hem and pocket. This is achieved with french silk.
All buttons are french vintage and all backing buttons are antique shell (utilised on the pocket buttons for extra support at this stress point) these are hand shanked in french silk thread.
The buttonholes are also sewn by hand with slightly thicker French soie perlée. The collar has also been closed by hand giving a softer finish to the neckline. All reinforcement is done with handwoven cotton, no fusing or glue products are used in the piece, offering a more gracious way for the garment to age.
Features patch pockets at the waist, a left chest pocket, and an internal patch pocket with button closure.
Expertly crafted, with flat felled seams, and finished with hand-sewn button-holes complete with vintage buttons. Each piece comes with a swatch of fabric that can be used for continued repair and upkeep of the garment.
Made by hand in France by Oliver Church. Care instructions: hand wash, cold, with care.
Due to the nature of the fabric, slight surface imperfections may be visible. This is not considered a fault, but a rather a testament to the fabrics longevity.
