Stepped Bowl Medium

$460 NZD
(Last One)

The Stepped Bowl Medium by Woo-Lam (Sam) Choi is a sculptural wooden vessel that balances refined craftsmanship with the quiet beauty of natural form. Carved from green New Zealand maple and allowed to dry slowly over time, the bowl has settled into a gentle, organic warp — a unique characteristic of its making. A small, stabilised crack along the rim adds further depth and honesty to the piece, celebrating the life and history of the timber.

Partly torched to deepen the grain, the bowl’s stepped profile catches the light beautifully, making it equally suited to serving as a fruit bowl or displayed as an ornamental object. Each piece is shaped individually in Choi’s Auckland studio, where traditional woodworking meets a contemporary, intuitive sensibility.

A timeless object with warmth and presence — crafted to be used, admired, and passed on.

Dimensions: 22cm diameter × 10.5cm height

Material: Spalted New Zealand maple, partly torched.

ABOUT the MAKER

Walk in the Park

Walk In The Park is the studio practice of artist and designer Woo-Lam (Sam) Choi, based in Auckland, New Zealand. Trained in woodworking and furniture design at Hong-ik University in Korea, Sam began exploring wood-turning in 2016. His work today sits at the intersection of form and function — each object carefully hand-turned from timber in his studio, where simplicity and craftsmanship take centre stage. Walk In The Park celebrates honest design where beauty and utility are intertwined. Sam's sculptural vessels, bowls and objects reflect a quiet reverence for material, process and proportion. These timeless pieces are designed to enrich daily rituals, offering a tactile connection to nature and a thoughtful pause in modern life. Tessuti is proud to present a selection of Walk In The Park's work — considered pieces that honour traditional craftsmanship through a contemporary lens.
