Villa Médicis Ceramic Candle 220g

DESCRIPTION

Villa Médicis scented candle by celebrated French ceramic house, Astier de Villatte. Along the length of the artists’ workshops, with their large windows opening over the rooftops of Rome, run the majestic gardens of the Villa. A centre for encounters and for meditation, the residents delight in the subtle fragrances of lemon tree leaves, lavender and oregano flowers. The air thrills with the woody aroma of the tall cedars nearby, and the inexpressible fragrance of the ancient stones in the heat of the sun.

Scent family - Woody.

Notes: Lemon-tree leaves, lavender, oregano flowers, and cedar.

Size: 220g, burntime 55 - 60 hours.

The candle fragrances were developed by Astier de Villatte designers and perfumer Françoise Caron who worked with a team at Takasago.

The candles are made of biodegradable vegetable wax (a mix of soy, beeswax, and plant extracts) and have cotton wicks.

This candle is housed in a classic Astier de Villatte ceramic vessel, handmade in Paris, with a black and white image of a Renaissance sculpture nestled in the garden at the Villa Médicis.

DETAILS

  • Care instructions: ensure the entire wax surface is molten each burn before extinguishing the flame. Trimming the wick after each burn prevents soot forming on the glass.
  • The labels and packaging for the candles are printed by Monsieur Huin, the last typesetter in France.

ABOUT the MAKER

Astier de Villatte

Astier de Villatte ceramics are handmade in their Parisian workshops. Each piece is unique, as a result of manual work and the natural method of drying. The white enamel allows an irregular glimpse of the brown clay underneath. The production of ceramic objects is a long and delicate process. Each piece is entirely made by one craftsperson. In fact, you can find engraved on each piece the initials of Astier de Villatte and of the craftsperson who made it.
