Le Goûter

We celebrate the French culinary tradition of an afternoon pick-me-up...

Afternoon tea, known as "Le Goûter” (pronounced “le goo tay”), is a culinary tradition in France. It is a time set aside to indulge in sweet and fragrant fruits from the season's abundance for an afternoon pick-me-up.

We recently hosted an impromptu Goûte, featuring a juicy pear tart paired with coffee and cream, and sat in the sunny part of the house with our friends...

It is tempting to feel rushed at this time of the year — there is no doubt it is full — but festivity has a priority, and that is joy: to be among those who fill us up (cake not included). Spending time with those we love is what is most valuable.
