The Carnation is a hand-painted copper flower sculpture that captures the finely ruffled texture and quiet intricacy of this enduring bloom. Each petal is individually shaped and painted by hand in the Milan atelier of Elisabetta and Carolina Sonzini, where traditional craftsmanship is expressed through a refined botanical lens.
Created using tôle peinte, an 18th-century French technique of painting on metal, the piece reveals depth and subtle tonal variation through its hand-applied finish. The layered, frilled form of the carnation brings softness and movement, balanced by a sense of structure and precision.
Mounted on a simple black wooden base, the Carnation is designed as a sculptural object — adding texture and presence to a console, mantel, or interior setting. A lasting bloom, it reflects a considered approach to craftsmanship and material.
