Crocheted Raffia Basket with Appliqué Flowers

A hand-crocheted raffia basket with a scatter of appliquéd flowers across one face — large padded blooms in cream, sand, and sage linen, their petals quilted with embroidered thread, alongside smaller velvet flowers in olive, slate, and dark green, and embroidered stems worked directly into the raffia ground. As with all Sophie Digard pieces, this basket is entirely unique — the arrangement and colourway of the flowers will not be repeated.

Crocheted and appliquéd entirely by hand in Madagascar by the artisans Sophie Digard has long collaborated with, the basket combines a crocheted raffia body with fabric flowers formed, padded, and applied individually. The reverse is plain crocheted raffia. No two are identical.

Short handles sit close to the body, giving the basket a considered, structured silhouette — wide enough to carry generously, upright enough to carry well.
